Although municipal cases are generally considered to be less serious than cases that are filed in County Courts or District Court, there are far fewer protections provided to people in municipal court cases. Similarly, municipal convictions, just like convictions in Colorado’s County or District Courts, can have serious implications outside of the conviction, including potential jail time and serious immigration consequences.
